Bambu Lab: corners lift (warping) or the part comes loose mid-print, especially with ABS, ASA, PC or PA
Checked against the official documentation from Bambu Lab.
Technology: FDM · Brand: Bambu Lab · Symptoms: Corners lift (warping), Does not stick to the bed · Updated on 24 October 2026
Symptom
On a Bambu Lab printer the corners or edges of the part curl upwards during printing (sometimes leaving a line on the side where the nozzle hit the lifted layer again), or the whole part slides or comes off mid-print. It happens more with large, flat parts and with ABS, ASA, PC, PA and PA-CF.
Likely causes, from most to least likely
- Plastic shrinking as it cools: the edges cool before the centre and pull upwards. From most to least risk: PC, PA-CF, PA, ABS, ASA, PETG and PLA.
- Grease from fingers or dirt on the plate: the number one reason a part does not grip.
- A slicer plate type different from the one installed (for example, sliced for the Cool Plate, 35 °C for PLA, and printed on the Textured PEI Plate, which needs 55-65 °C) or a first layer that is too high.
- Air drafts, a room below 20 °C, or ABS, ASA and PC on an open printer.
- Grid or triangle infill, which pulls in straight lines, or an auxiliary fan that is too strong.
Checks to tell which one it is
- Tell the failure apart: corners lifting is warping; the whole part sliding is adhesion; the top collapsing is stability.
- Check in Bambu Studio the plate type and the bed temperature of the filament profile.
- Look for open windows, air conditioning or a fan near the printer.
Before you start
Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.
Step-by-step fix
Basics first
Wash the plate with warm water and dish soap, rinse and let it air-dry without touching the surface; run auto bed levelling again (especially after moving the printer, maintenance or a firmware update); and check that the nozzle is properly secured. According to Bambu Lab, this solves about 80 % of cases.
Check: The part stays stuck until the end.
If that does not fix it: Adjust the bed and the brim.
Bed, brim and fan at the start
With PLA on the Textured PEI Plate, raise the bed by 5-10 °C (to 55-65 °C) and add an 8-10 mm brim; if only some corners lift, add Brim Ears just there. To help the first layer stick, turn off the part cooling fan for the first 3 layers (Filament settings › Cooling).
Check: The corners stop lifting.
If that does not fix it: For ABS, ASA, PC or PA, go to the next step.
ABS, ASA, PC and PA
Raise the bed by 10-15 °C and close the door and top cover so the inside goes above 40 °C; a thin, even layer of glue helps a lot. Without an enclosed printer, large flat parts in ABS, ASA or PC almost always warp: print them in PLA, PETG or their fibre-filled versions.
Check: The part comes out flat.
If that does not fix it: Check the infill and the auxiliary fan.
Infill and auxiliary fan
On large flat parts, use gyroid infill at 25 % or less instead of grid or triangles (they shrink in straight lines). If the auxiliary part cooling fan cools the walls too much, lower it by 20-30 %.
Check: The part no longer curls at the edges.
If that does not fix it: Check the environment and the filament.
Environment and filament
Avoid drafts around the printer and, on enclosed printers, keep the door and top cover closed. If the room is below 20 °C, on an open printer such as the A1 raise the bed another 10 °C. If the filament crackles or the surface comes out bubbly or stringy, dry it before trying again.
Check: The part comes out fine with the same profile.
If that does not fix it: If a tall thin part falls over mid-print, lower speed and acceleration by 20-30 % and add supports.
Prevention
- Choose in Bambu Studio the same plate you have installed.
- Keep nylon and PC sealed with desiccant: they absorb moisture within hours.
- Check that the toolhead moves without catching and that the PTFE tube is not cracked or blocked.
