What will it cost to print?

Open an STL and enter your own numbers. We measure the real mesh and estimate filament, electricity, machine time and labour without uploading the file.

No account and free. Binary or ASCII STL up to 50 MB and 750,000 triangles; you can also try a 20 mm sample cube.

Material and slicing

The initial values are usi3d's standard profile (Bambu Lab A1, 0.4 mm nozzle, PLA), the same one used for the cloud's indicative slicing. Replace them with your spool and slicer settings: density, spool price, infill, walls, layer height and supports.

How this figure is made

We measure which way every face of the mesh points. Walls follow the side surface with their line count; top and bottom layers follow the surface facing up or down, minus what the walls already cover and plus the reinforcement slicers add under slopes; the remaining interior gets the infill percentage. The initial purge line is added. Supports are your chosen percentage of the model weight.

The factors were fitted by slicing real parts in Bambu Studio with the standard profile: on our closed test meshes the figure lands within ±2% of the slicer. It is still an estimate: it assumes the model rests as it comes in the STL (Z up) and knows nothing of toolpaths, actual supports or time. Check grams and hours in your slicer; colour changes, bed adhesion, failures, packaging, fees and tax are excluded.

More on usi3d

  • Repair an STL model: Find open edges, duplicate faces and orientation issues in your STL and close simple planar holes, in your browser. Check the result in your slicer.
  • Split into parts: Upload your STL, 3MF or GLB, pick your printer and split it into parts that fit its bed, with numbered dowels that fit together.
  • Shop: Filament in many colors, spare parts and nozzles, build plates and accessories for your 3D printer, from trusted shops and with compatibility up front.
