Bambu Lab build plates: print won't stick, plate not recognised or not matching the G-code

Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.

Technology: FDM · Brand: Bambu Lab · Symptoms: Does not stick to the bed, The print will not come off the bed, The printer shows an error code or message · Updated on 9 October 2026

Symptom

The first layer does not grip the Bambu Lab plate, or the printer complains about the plate: the marker is not detected (0300-8006, 0C00-0300-0002-000C), the detected plate does not match the G-code (0300-8011), no plate is present (0300-8019) or «Build plate not recognized».

Likely causes, from most to least likely

  1. Dirty plate: finger grease or dust, which alcohol does not remove well from textured PEI.
  2. Plate placed badly or skewed (often sticking out slightly towards the door), or a damaged or covered marker.
  3. The plate type chosen in the slicer differs from the one on the printer.
  4. A plate from another generation or another brand: first-generation plates are not recognised by the P2S and X2D, and second-generation plates are not recognised by the X1.
  5. A material that needs glue on that plate (PC, PA, ABS or ASA may need it on textured PEI) or a bed temperature that is too low.

Checks to tell which one it is

  • Wet the plate: if the water beads up instead of forming a thin film, it is dirty.
  • Check that the plate is the right way round and aligned with the bed and that the marker is clean and intact.
  • Compare the plate type in the slicer with the one fitted.

Before you start

Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Wash the plate

With the plate cold and off the printer, wet it, add dish soap with no oils or moisturisers and scrub with a sponge or plastic brush to reach into the texture; rinse with warm water and dry with paper towel. Do not use acetone on textured PEI and always hold it by the edges.

Check: Water forms a thin film on the plate and the first layer sticks.

If that does not fix it: Adjust the temperature and first layer (next step).

  2. Temperature, brim and first layer

Raise the bed temperature slightly (with PLA and PETG do not overdo it: it can clog the nozzle and cause elephant foot), add a brim to small parts and, if needed, start with a 0.5 mm line width and a 0.25 mm first layer. With PC, PA, ABS or ASA on textured PEI, a layer of Bambu Lab glue may be needed.

Check: The part stays stuck until the end.

If that does not fix it: Check the plate position and type (next steps).

  3. Seat the plate and check the marker

Seat the plate the right way round and aligned with the bed, not sticking out towards the door, and clean the marker. If you use a third-party plate, the marker alert can be ignored.

Check: The marker alert is gone at the start of the print.

If that does not fix it: If the marker is damaged, replace the plate.

  4. Plate different from the one in the G-code

Select in the slicer the plate type you actually have fitted and slice again, or fit the plate the file asks for.

Check: The print starts without a plate alert.

If that does not fix it: If you use a plate from another generation, choose «Resolved» on the screen or turn off build plate detection in the settings.

  5. On the A series

The A1, A1 mini and A2L use the nozzle to check that a plate is present before printing: if it is missing, skewed or a third-party plate with a different shape, they report that the plate is not placed properly. Seat the official plate correctly and start again.

    Check: The plate check passes.

If that does not fix it: If you use a third-party plate, you can turn detection off in the print options on the screen.

  6. If the part sticks too hard

Wait for the plate to drop to 35 °C or lower and flex it gently so the part pops off.

Check: The part comes off without damaging the surface.

If that does not fix it: Check the Bambu Lab filament guide for that material and plate: if adhesion is too strong, the sheet can bubble or crack.

Prevention

  • Do not touch the surface with your fingers and wash the plate regularly.
  • Use only Bambu Lab glue: Bambu Lab advises against third-party glues because they can damage the plate.
  • The wear mark where the nozzle is wiped (X1, P1 and A1) is normal and does not affect the plate.
