Centauri Carbon 2 with CANVAS: filament will not load or unload (errors 1241, 1242, 1251 or 1265)
Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.
Technology: FDM · Brand: Elegoo · Symptoms: The multi-material system fails (does not load, cut or jams), The printer shows an error code or message, Clogged nozzle or hotend · Updated on 10 October 2026
Symptom
With CANVAS (standard on the Combo), the Centauri Carbon 2 cannot bring the filament to the print head or pull it back: the slot light flashes red, the print pauses and error 1241 (loading error), 1242 (the filament did not reach the print head within 30 seconds), 1251 (unload failed) or 1265 (filament not detected at the toolhead) appears.
Likely causes, from most to least likely
- The filament is tangled, knotted, has a swollen tip or has broken inside the PTFE tube.
- A PTFE tube has come loose from the print head or from CANVAS (error 1241).
- The spool holders are not in the numbered order of the chassis, or the spool is not aligned with its holder.
- The feeder assembly (the motor) of that CANVAS slot is badly seated or its cable is loose.
- Filament debris in the 4-in-1 hub or in the print head (gearbox, clogged nozzle).
- The print head filament detection board is badly fitted or faulty.
Checks to tell which one it is
- Check whether one slot fails or all four: try filament from another slot. If only one fails, the problem is in that path; if all fail, in the shared path (4-in-1 hub and print head).
- Check whether the PTFE tube on top of CANVAS has filament in it and whether any tube is loose.
- Push filament by hand through the PTFE tube until it stops and see whether the print head icon in the control menu turns green.
Before you start
Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.
Step-by-step fix
Check the filament and the spool
Untangle the filament (always hold the end when inserting it into the slot), cut off a swollen tip with side cutters and check that each spool holder carries its own number and that the spool turns aligned with it. Elegoo does not support printing TPU through CANVAS.
Check: The slot loads and unloads without error.
If that does not fix it: Check the PTFE tubes (next step).
Reseat the PTFE tubes (1241)
Push any loose tube fully back into the print head or CANVAS. With the printer off, open the print head front cover and reconnect the plug on the left of the filament detection board.
Check: Error 1241 does not come back.
If that does not fix it: Look for broken filament (next step).
Remove broken filament
Switch off and unplug. If the filament broke on the CANVAS side, press the push-fit collar with tweezers, pull the PTFE tube out and remove the piece. If it broke on the print head side, remove the 4-in-1 hub (2.0 and 2.5 mm keys: print head communication cable, cable chain and two screws) and clear the debris.
Check: Filament passes through the tube and the hub by hand without catching.
If that does not fix it: If the hub is blocked and cannot be cleared, replace it.
Check the CANVAS path (if only one slot fails)
Switch off and unplug. Open the CANVAS housing following Elegoo's video, check that the notches on top of the feeder assembly line up and that the motor wires sit in their clips, and reconnect the plugs at both ends.
Check: The slot loads again.
If that does not fix it: If nothing changes, replace that feeder assembly.
Check the print head detection board
With filament pushed by hand up to the print head, its icon must turn green. If it does not, switch off, unplug and refit the filament detection board following Elegoo's guide (mind the small spring behind it).
Check: The icon turns green with filament inside.
If that does not fix it: If it still does not turn green, replace the detection board (for 1265, also its spring and trigger piece).
Test the print head if all slots fail
If detection works, set the nozzle to 200 °C, insert filament into the top of the print head and press ▽ to extrude.
Check: Filament comes out of the nozzle.
If that does not fix it: If it does not, the jam is in the print head: check the gearbox and the nozzle; if nothing fixes it, contact Elegoo support with a video of the loading and of where the filament stops.
Prevention
- Always hold the filament end when inserting it into or removing it from CANVAS, so it does not tangle.
- Keep the spool holders in their numbered order and use an adapter if the spool hole is too large.
- After printing high-temperature filaments, purge before switching to a low-temperature one.
