145 free guides to fix your 3D printer, with official sources

From today, usi3d has 145 free public guides for fixing 3D printer problems, filament and resin, in English and Spanish. Each one starts from a specific symptom, ranks the causes, shows you how to check which one is yours and gives a step-by-step fix with links to the manufacturer's official documentation.

Key points

  • 145 3D printer troubleshooting guides at usi3d.com/en/guias/, free and with no sign-up.
  • 121 cover filament (FDM) printers, 23 resin and one applies to both.
  • 54 work for any printer; the rest cover specific brands: Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo, Prusa, Anycubic and ten more.
  • Every guide links its official sources: manufacturers' wikis and help centres, plus the Klipper and Marlin documentation.
  • If your case is not covered, usi3d's AI takes it on using the same knowledge base and your photos.

What we are publishing today

The 3D printer troubleshooting guides are the knowledge cards usi3d's AI uses to diagnose problems, now open to everyone as ordinary web pages. You do not need an account to read them, they load without JavaScript and each has a Spanish version too.

Almost half of them, 65, deal with error codes: a Bambu Lab's 0300-4006 for a clogged nozzle, thermal runaway or MINTEMP on any machine (temperature errors) or Klipper's “Lost communication with MCU” (Klipper MCU errors).

How each guide is built

They all follow the same order, designed for someone standing at the printer with the ruined print in their hand:

  1. The symptom, described as you see it: “the lines drag”, “the corners lift”, “it comes out thin and in spurts”.
  2. The likely causes, from most to least likely.
  3. The checks that tell you which one is yours before you touch anything.
  4. The step-by-step fix: what to do, how to check it worked and what to do if it did not.
  5. Prevention, the printers it applies to and its official sources, linked.

We write them from official documentation: the Prusa help centre, the Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic, Snapmaker, Sovol and Qidi wikis, Formlabs and Phrozen support, and the Klipper, Marlin and Voron docs. When a guide gives a number (raise the bed by 5 to 10 °C, drop the first layers to 75% speed), it is the manufacturer's number, and the source is right underneath. Each guide also says whether usi3d has verified it yet.

A clogged nozzle is one of the problems with the most guides: by brand, by model and for any printer.

How to find the guide for your problem

  1. Search for what you see or for the code

In the guide index, type the symptom in your own words (“not sticking”, “strings”), the code on the screen (“0300-4006”) or your printer model (“K1 Max”).

  2. Start with the general guide if unsure

Guides are grouped: first those for any FDM printer, then materials, resin and each brand. If your model is not listed, the general guide usually does the job. For example, the first layer does not stick to the bed applies to almost any machine.

  3. Check before you change anything

Read the checks and rule causes out. Change three things at once and you will never know which one fixed it.

  4. Follow the steps in order

Each step tells you how to check it worked. If it did not, the next one tells you where to go.

What if your problem is not in any guide

On every guide, the “Tell the AI about your case” button takes you to Fix 3D printer problems with AI with the symptom already selected. There you choose your printer, describe what is happening and add photos; the AI uses these same cards and links its sources. We cover it in detail in how to fix your 3D printer's problems with AI.

Below some guides, kept apart from the text, you will see products from the shop that fit the problem, such as nozzles, PEI sheets or belts. If a term is new to you, there is our 3D printing glossary. We will keep adding guides and printer models.

Where does the information in the guides come from?
