K2 Plus: the waste chute clogs and the purge does not fall out (sometimes with error 2060)

Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.

Technology: FDM · Brand: Creality · Symptoms: The multi-material system fails (does not load, cut or jams), The printer shows an error code or message · Updated on 9 October 2026

Symptom

The purge waste the nozzle ejects when changing filament or starting a print piles up in the waste chute and does not come out. If the chute clogs, the toolhead can get blocked while wiping the nozzle; Creality links this case to error 2060, shown on screen as «System error, try to restart».

Likely causes, from most to least likely

  1. The tray that catches the filament is deformed and the waste does not tip over.
  2. The nozzle wiper is deformed or damaged: the nozzle is not cleaned and the waste does not drop.
  3. The inside wall of the chute is rough and holds the waste back, or the chute is badly assembled and there is a gap between the nozzle and the wiper strip.
  4. The nozzle fan is not working: the waste comes out soft and sticks.
  5. The X/Y motors are losing steps (error 2789 usually appears earlier in the log).

Checks to tell which one it is

  • With the printer stopped, check for waste piled in the chute and whether the tray moves straight and freely.
  • Check the wiper: whole, straight and at the right height; the nozzle should brush the strip slightly when wiping.
  • Check that the nozzle fan spins.
  • Look in the previous errors for 2789.

Before you start

Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Straighten the tray

With the printer off and cool, remove the piled-up waste. If the tray that catches the filament is deformed, straighten it until it moves normally.

Check: The waste tips over and falls down the chute again.

If that does not fix it: If it cannot be fixed, contact Creality support.

  2. Replace the nozzle wiper

If the wiper is deformed or broken, replace it: straighten and remove the pin, remove the shaft and the waste shield, remove the two M3 screws on the inner side of the chute (2.0 mm hex key) and fit the new one with the threaded holes facing out. If only the wiper's adhesive tape is worn, replace the tape.

Check: The nozzle comes out clean after each pass.

If that does not fix it: Check the chute (next step).

  3. Check the chute assembly and inner wall

If the inner wall is rough or the chute was badly assembled (the nozzle does not touch the strip when wiping), reassemble or replace it following Creality's K2 Plus waste chute video.

Check: The nozzle brushes the strip and the waste slides out without catching.

If that does not fix it: Check the fan (next step).

  4. Check the nozzle fan

If the nozzle fan does not spin, the waste does not cool and sticks: replace the part cooling fan assembly following Creality's guide.

Check: The fan spins and the waste drops out solid.

If that does not fix it: If 2789 appears in the log, follow Creality's guide for that error (X/Y step loss).

  5. If error 2060 appears

Besides the chute, Creality asks you to check that nothing has fallen onto the Y-axis rail, that the wiper is not deformed or set too low, and that X/Y homing works properly (normally Y homes first, then X).

Check: Homing finishes without error and 2060 does not return.

If that does not fix it: Contact Creality support.

  6. Enable AI waste chute detection

Turn on AI waste chute detection: it pauses the print if the chute gets blocked.

Check: The printer pauses if purge waste builds up again.

If that does not fix it: Empty the chute and resume.

Prevention

  • Check the chute before long prints with many colour changes.
  • Replace the wiper or its tape as soon as they deform or wear.
  • Keep AI waste chute detection enabled.
