Ender 3 V3 KE: the vibration sensor is not recognised, the screen flickers or ringing appears (input shaping)

Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.

Technology: FDM · Brand: Creality · Symptoms: Ripples or echoes on the walls (ghosting), The printer shows an error code or message, Loose belts · Updated on 10 October 2026

Symptom

When you connect the vibration compensation sensor (G-sensor) to the Ender 3 V3 KE for input shaping, the screen says no sensor is recognised or starts flickering; or prints come out with ringing and lines on the walls.

Likely causes, from most to least likely

  1. The sensor's Type-C connection cable is faulty.
  2. If the screen flickers: a short circuit inside the Type-C connector of the sensor cable, from a defective batch.
  3. The cable plugged into the wrong place: the sensor's Type-C cable in the Nebula screen kit has a USB port for powering the Nebula camera or other 5 V devices, and Creality warns not to plug it into the screen's USB port.
  4. The test has not been repeated after a firmware update or after many printing hours.
  5. Ringing and lines from the mechanics: a loose gantry, stuck or loose Z-axis wheels, loose extruder plate or nozzle screws, loose belts or a wobbling bed.

Checks to tell which one it is

  • Note what happens: a no-sensor message, a flickering screen or only ringing on the prints.
  • Check where the sensor's Type-C cable is plugged in: it must go into the back port of the Nebula screen.

Before you start

Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Fit the sensor as Creality describes

Print the sensor brackets (Creality recommends PETG with more than 30 % honeycomb infill). Fit the X-axis bracket to the hotend back plate with two M3×6 screws and the Y-axis bracket under the bed slide plate, at the lower right, with two more. Fix the sensor to the X bracket with two M3×8 screws, plug the 6-pin cable into the sensor and the Type-C into the back port of the Nebula screen.

Check: The screen recognises the sensor.

If that does not fix it: If it says there is no sensor, check the cable (step 3).

  2. Run both tests

In «Settings» → «Input Shaping» run the X-axis test (the hotend test). Then move the sensor to the Y-axis bracket, tap «Installed» and run the Y-axis test (the bed test). When finished, switch the printer off and remove the sensor and the brackets: they do not need to stay fitted.

Check: Both tests complete without errors.

If that does not fix it: If the ringing remains, check the mechanics (step 5).

  3. Sensor not recognised: the cable

If the screen says no sensor is recognised, Creality attributes it to a faulty Type-C sensor connection cable: ask their support for a replacement cable.

Check: With the new cable, the screen recognises the sensor.

If that does not fix it: Contact Creality support.

  4. The screen flickers when the sensor is connected

Disconnect the sensor: the Type-C cable has a short circuit inside the connector. Ask Creality for the replacement Type-C cable of the Nebula screen kit and do not plug that cable into the screen's USB port.

Check: With the new cable, the screen does not flicker.

If that does not fix it: Contact Creality support.

  5. If the ringing remains: check the mechanics

Switch off and unplug. Reassemble the gantry properly (as in the unboxing video), check that the Z-axis wheels are not stuck or loose and that the Z axis moves smoothly, tighten the four extruder plate screws and the nozzle screws, re-tension the X and Y belts and tighten the screws between the bed slide plate and the linear bearing mount.

Check: The walls come out without ringing or lines.

If that does not fix it: Run the input shaping test again and, if it persists, contact Creality support.

Prevention

  • Repeat the vibration optimisation after every firmware update and with the periodic self-check: Creality says every 300 hours in its maintenance guide and every 500 in the sensor guide.
  • Plug the sensor's Type-C cable only into the back port of the Nebula screen.
  • Switch the printer off before removing the sensor.
