The Bambu camera won't show in Bambu Studio or Bambu Handy (black screen or Liveview error)

Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.

Technology: FDM · Brand: Bambu Lab · Symptoms: Does not connect to Wi-Fi or the app, The printer shows an error code or message · Updated on 9 October 2026

Symptom

The live video (Liveview) does not load: black screen, an error while initializing, loading or connecting, or the alert «Liveview service is malfunctioning» (0500-0200-0002-0006). Bambu Studio may show «Initialize failed (Missing LAN IP of printer)» and Bambu Handy «The printer cannot be found on the LAN».

Likely causes, from most to least likely

  1. Bambu Handy or Bambu Studio out of date, or logged in with an account other than the one the printer is bound to.
  2. The computer or phone is not on the same local network as the printer, or the router does not pass on the broadcasts the printer uses to announce itself.
  3. A firewall on the computer blocking the video traffic.
  4. Weak Wi-Fi or an overloaded home network.
  5. Loose camera or Wi-Fi antenna cable, or a faulty camera.
  6. Not a fault: the video is paused on purpose while the print file downloads or logs upload, and resumes afterwards.

Checks to tell which one it is

  • Check whether the camera icon appears on the printer screen: it means the printer detects the camera.
  • Look at the printer's Wi-Fi bars: 1 or 2 bars means a poor connection.
  • Test the video with the printer connected to a 2.4 GHz phone hotspot: if it works that way, the problem is your home network.

Before you start

Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Update and re-bind

Update or reinstall Bambu Handy and Bambu Studio and make sure you use the account the printer is bound to. On the P1, if there is still no video, unbind the printer from Bambu Handy and bind it again.

Check: The video loads in the app and in the software.

If that does not fix it: Check the local network (next step).

  2. Same network and firewall

Connect the computer or phone to the same network as the printer. If turning off the computer's firewall fixes it, add rules that allow the printer's traffic: Bambu Lab lists UDP ports 2021 and 1990 for discovery and TCP 6000 for the video. If the router has UPnP and «IPv4 Multicast Streams» options, enable them.

Check: Bambu Studio finds the printer's IP and shows the video.

If that does not fix it: Try the phone hotspot (next step).

  3. Check the home network

Connect the printer to a 2.4 GHz phone hotspot and watch the video in Bambu Studio. If it works, restart the router, move the printer closer or improve your network bandwidth.

Check: The video is stable on your network.

If that does not fix it: Restart the printer (next step).

  4. Restart, LAN mode and a test print

Power cycle the printer and open the door so the chamber cools down. If you watch the video in LAN only mode, update the LAN access code in the software. Print a small test part: if the video works, reset the printer and format the microSD card; if it still fails, update the firmware.

Check: The video works after the restart or the update.

If that does not fix it: Check the camera and antenna cables (next step).

  5. Camera and antenna cables

Switch the printer off and unplug it. Check and reseat the camera cable and the Wi-Fi antenna cable on their board following the guide for your model.

Check: After power-on, the camera is detected and the video loads.

If that does not fix it: If the camera, its cable or the antenna are damaged they need replacing: contact Bambu Lab support.

Prevention

  • Keep Bambu Handy, Bambu Studio and the firmware up to date.
  • Clean the camera lens when the picture looks blurred; if you print ABS, Bambu Lab advises doing it weekly on the X1.
  • If the video stops while a file downloads or logs upload, wait: it comes back on its own when that finishes.
