My Prusa shows an error with a five-digit code and a QR code

Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.

Technology: FDM and resin · Brand: Prusa · Symptoms: The printer shows an error code or message · Updated on 9 October 2026

Symptom

The Prusa printer shows an error screen with the name of the problem, a short description, a QR code, a link and a five-digit number preceded by #, for example #13202. The printer stops or will not continue until the problem is solved.

Likely causes, from most to least likely

  1. A temperature problem: the third digit of the code is 2 (for example #13202, hotend preheat error on the MK4).
  2. A mechanical or motion problem: the third digit is 1 (for example #13101, stuck filament detection on the MK4).
  3. An electronics or sensor problem: the third digit is 3.
  4. A connection problem (Wi-Fi, Ethernet or Prusa Connect): the third digit is 4.
  5. A system or firmware fault (third digit 5), or a boot, firmware update or USB problem (third digit 6).

Checks to tell which one it is

  • Read the first two digits to know which machine it refers to: 12 MINI/MINI+, 13 MK4, 17 XL, 26 MK4S, 31 CORE One, 10 SL1/SL1S and 04 the MMU. For example, #12201 is a heatbed heating failure on the MINI/MINI+.
  • Read the third digit to know the type of fault: 1 mechanical, 2 temperature, 3 electronics, 4 connection, 5 system, 6 bootloader or update, 7 warnings.
  • Scan the QR code on the screen with your phone or search for the number in the Prusa Knowledge Base: each code has its own guide.

Before you start

Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise. With filament, let the nozzle and the bed cool down; with resin, wear nitrile gloves and safety glasses and ventilate. If in any doubt, stop and ask a professional.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Write down the full code

Take a photo of the screen or write down the error name and the exact five-digit number. The same fault has a different number on each model: the hotend preheat error, for example, is #13202 on the MK4, #26202 on the MK4S and #31202 on the CORE One.

Check: You have the name and the number exactly as shown on the screen.

If that does not fix it: If you cannot read it, scan the QR code directly: the link takes you to the article for that error.

  2. Open the official guide for the code

Scan the QR code with a phone or tablet, use the link shown on the screen or search for the number in the Prusa Knowledge Base. Each article explains what happened and how to fix it.

Check: You reached the article whose title contains your code.

If that does not fix it: If it does not show up, try searching for the error name exactly as it appears on the screen.

  3. Hotend preheat error

If it is a hotend preheat error (#13202 MK4, #26202 MK4S, #31202 CORE One), the printer could not raise the nozzle temperature by more than 2 ºC in 20 seconds and cut the heating for safety. Make sure the room temperature is stable and above 18 ºC and, with the printer off and cold, check the heater and thermistor cables on the LoveBoard.

Check: The nozzle heats up normally again.

If that does not fix it: Follow the article for the code to check the board fuse and the main cable and to measure the heater and thermistor, or contact Prusa support.

  4. Stuck filament detected

If the error is stuck filament detection (#13101 MK4, #26101 MK4S, #31101 CORE One, #17108 XL), the load cell noticed that the filament is not moving inside the Nextruder. Press unload, let the printer remove the filament, load it again when asked and the print will continue.

Check: The print carries on without pausing again.

If that does not fix it: If it happens again, review the temperature and speed in the profile, the idler screws and the load cell. Detection can be turned off in the Settings menu, but Prusa warns that this increases the risk of nozzle clogs.

Prevention

  • If you want Prusa to be able to check whether your firmware is the latest, keep the device identifier (device hash) enabled in the QR link; it can be turned off in Settings → System.
  • Keep a photo of each error with its number: it makes finding the guide and explaining the problem to support easier.
