Kobra S1 or Kobra 3: error 10411 (mainboard TMC driver overheating; mainboard fan)
Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.
Technology: FDM · Brand: Anycubic · Symptoms: The printer shows an error code or message, A fan does not spin or is noisy · Updated on 10 October 2026
Symptom
The Kobra S1, Kobra 3 or Kobra 3 V2 stops printing with «CODE: 10411 TMC or extruder overheat. Please check cooling.»: the TMC chip on the board that drives the motors has overheated and its protection has kicked in. On the Kobra S1, a poorly cooled board can also make the motors skip steps and shift the layers.
Likely causes, from most to least likely
- A very hot or poorly ventilated room, or many hours in a row printing under heavy load.
- The board's air inlets or outlets, under the printer, are blocked by dust or debris.
- Something is blocking the mainboard fan or it does not spin.
- The mainboard fan cable is loose or makes poor contact.
- The driver heat sink is badly fitted or full of dust and no longer cools as well.
Checks to tell which one it is
- With the printer off, look at the vents underneath: dust, filament debris or anything blocking the air inlet or outlet.
- Switch on and move the X, Y or Z axis from the screen: the mainboard fan starts at the same time. Listen for whether it spins and makes any odd noise.
Before you start
Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.
Step-by-step fix
Clean the vents
Switch off and unplug. Clean dust and debris from the vents underneath so the board's air inlet and outlet are clear.
Check: Nothing is blocking the vents.
If that does not fix it: Check the mainboard fan (next step).
Check the mainboard fan
Switch on and move an axis from the screen: the mainboard fan must start and spin steadily, without odd noises. If something is blocking it, switch off and unplug before cleaning it.
Check: The fan spins normally.
If that does not fix it: If it does not spin, check its cable (next step); if it spins fine, clean the fan and the heat sink (step 4).
Reconnect the fan cable
Switch off and unplug. Kobra 3: remove the bottom cover screws with the H2.5 key. Kobra S1: remove the signal cable and PTFE tube from the back cover, the filament detection module and, with the H2.0 key, the back cover, then cut the zip tie on the fan cable. Remove the red adhesive from the connector if present (it is for shipping) and reseat it fully, holding the connector body.
Check: The connector is firm, undamaged and unburnt, and the error does not come back.
If that does not fix it: Clean the fan and the heat sink (next step).
Clean the fan and the heat sink
With the printer off, unplugged and the cover removed (on the Kobra S1, also remove the fan mounting plate with the H2.0 key), clean the blades with a blower or a hair dryer and a brush. If the driver heat sink is dusty, clean it thoroughly the same way.
Check: The axes move without stopping and a test print finishes without 10411.
If that does not fix it: If the error persists, the fan or the board may be faulty: replace the fan (next step).
Replace the mainboard fan
With the printer off and unplugged. Kobra 3: remove the two bottom cover screws (2.5 mm key), unplug the fan and remove its four screws (2.0 mm key). Kobra S1: with the back cover off, unplug the fan, remove its mounting plate (2.0 mm key) and the fan (2.5 mm key). Fit the new one in reverse order and secure its cable with a zip tie.
Check: The new fan spins when the axes move.
If that does not fix it: Go to the last step.
Information for Anycubic support
If 10411 persists, contact Anycubic support or the shop with a screenshot of the error, the model and serial number, the firmware version, when it appears (at start-up, when moving axes or while printing), the state of the fan and the vents, what you have tried and any parts you replaced.
Check: Support tells you which part to replace.
If that does not fix it: Follow their instructions.
Prevention
- Clean the dust off the board vents and the fan from time to time.
- Check now and then that the mainboard fan spins.
- Do not run the printer for many hours in a row in a hot or enclosed space.
- On the Kobra S1, do not block the base vents: if the board is not cooled, layers can shift.
