Centauri Carbon 2: the touch screen does not turn on at power-on

Guide based on the manufacturer's official documentation; usi3d has not yet verified it on a machine.

Technology: FDM · Brand: Elegoo · Symptoms: The printer does not turn on · Updated on 10 October 2026

Symptom

When you switch the Centauri Carbon 2 on, the touch screen stays black and the printer does not start.

Likely causes, from most to least likely

  1. The power cable is loose or damaged, or the wall socket has no power.
  2. The fuse in the power switch has blown or the switch makes poor contact.
  3. The touch screen ribbon cable is loose, disconnected or damaged.
  4. The power supply gives no output or no 24 V.
  5. The mainboard or the touch screen itself is faulty.

Checks to tell which one it is

  • Check whether the power switch light comes on, and test the socket with another appliance.
  • With the printer off, move the print head quickly by hand: the motors generate a little voltage and, if the screen lights up briefly, the screen and the mainboard work.

Before you start

Before taking anything apart, cleaning or adjusting it, switch the printer off and unplug it, unless a step says otherwise, and do not touch the nozzle, the heater block or the bed until they have cooled down. If in any doubt about electricity, heat or moving parts, stop and ask a professional.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Socket, cable and fuse

Make sure the cable is fully plugged in and the socket has power. If the switch light does not come on, switch off, unplug and take out the fuse in the power switch: if it has blown, replace it with an identical one (glass, 5 × 20 mm, 10 A, 250 V), never a higher-rated one.

Check: The switch light comes on and the screen starts.

If that does not fix it: If the new fuse blows again, do not keep trying: contact Elegoo support.

  2. Check the screen ribbon cable

Switch off and unplug. Remove the touch screen, release the connector latch and check the ribbon cable for bent or damaged pins. Then remove the bottom cover (ten screws, 2.0 mm key), lift the connector tab on the mainboard and check the other end.

Check: With both ends firmly connected, the screen turns on.

If that does not fix it: If the cable has bent pins, broken conductors or burn marks, replace it.

  3. The power supply, carefully

With the bottom cover off, switch on and see whether the power supply light comes on, without touching the board or anything inside: there is a risk of electric shock. Measuring the 24 V output is only for people who can measure live circuits safely; otherwise, skip it.

Check: The power supply light is on and there are 24 V.

If that does not fix it: If the light is off or there are no 24 V, the power supply must be replaced: order the spare from Elegoo.

  4. Information for Elegoo support

If it still does not turn on, send Elegoo support photos or videos of what you checked: the fuse, the ribbon cable, the power supply light (and the 24 V if you measured them), the mainboard light and whether the screen lights up briefly when you move the print head quickly.

Check: Support tells you which part to replace.

If that does not fix it: Follow their instructions.

Prevention

  • Keep a spare fuse identical to the original (glass, 5 × 20 mm, 10 A, 250 V).
  • Always switch off and unplug before disconnecting or connecting cables.
